About the Course

Kids group classes are available at three levels online:


Absolute Beginner: Level 1

Beginner: Level 2

Fast Beginner: Level 3


All classes run for six weeks. There are five, six-week terms per school year.

Absolute Beginner: Level 1

All are welcome! There is no prior knowledge of French required to join this class.

Each course runs for six weeks. Courses may be booked six weeks at a time and there is no obligation to continue after each set of six weeks. However, students must complete all five terms before moving up to the beginner class.


Term 1 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: September 2025 - October 2025

What you will learn:

·       How to introduce yourself, greet people and say how you are doing.

·       The French alphabet

·       Numbers 1 to 31

·       How to say how old you are

·       The days of the week and months of the year

·       How to say the date and when you have your birthday


Term 2 – Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: November 2025 - December 2025

What you will learn:

·       How to say what you have in your school bag

·       Using the Indefinite Articles “un”, “une”, and “des”

·       How to describe your classroom

·       Using the Definite Articles “le”, “la” and “les”

·       How to say what you like and dislike

·       How to talk about your hobbies


Term 3 – Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: January 2026 - February 2026

What you will learn:

·       Numbers 31 to 100

·       Colours as adjectives to describe what you wear

·       How to talk about animals and pets

·       The verb avoir

·       Family members

·       Introduction to possessive adjectives


Term 4 – Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: February 2026 - March 2026

What you will learn:

·       How to say where you live

·       Using the adjectives “petit” and “grand”

·       Accents

·       The weather

·       Seasons of the year


Term 5 – Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: May 2026 - June 2026

What you will learn:

·      The partitive article

·       Food and drink

·      How to order food

·      The verb être

·      How to talk about nationalities and countries


Beginner: Level 2


This course is the next step for those who have completed the absolute beginner course.

Students will gain a deeper understanding of noun phrases and be introduced to two tenses.


Term 1 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: September 2025 - October 2025

What you will learn:

·         Talk about your brothers, sisters and age using the verb avoir

·         Describe a classroom using the definite and indefinite articles

·         Talk about likes and dislikes using the verb aimer + the definite article

a)      Describe yourself and others

b)      Adjectival agreement

Talk about what you do using infinitives and regular -er verbs

·         Assessment of this term’s work


Term 2 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: November 2025 - December 2025

What you will learn:

a)      Revision of colours

b)      Telling the time

a)      Say what you think of your school subjects and why

b)      Talk about likes and dislikes using -er verbs

a)      Talk about what you wear to school

b)      Use adjectives after nouns

a)      Talk about your school day

b)      Use new -er verbs

a)      Learn about a typical French school

b)      Say what there is and there isn’t using il y a… and il n’y a pas de…

Term 3 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: January 2026 - February 2026

What you will learn:

a)      Revision of the weather and seasons

b)      Use jouer à to talk about sports that you play

a)      Use jouer de to talk about musical instruments that you play

b)      Use jouer à and jouer de together in sentences

a)      Use faire to talk about activities you do

b)      Learn about sport in French-speaking countries

a)      Use aimer + the infinitive to talk about what you like doing

b)      Learn how to form and answer questions

·         Conversation practice and review of this term’s work

·         Assessment of this term’s work


Term 4 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: February 2026 - April 2026

What you will learn:

a)      How to talk about animals

b)      Higher numbers

a)      Describe your family

b)      Use possessive adjectives my and your

a)      Describe where you live

b)      Use the nous form of -er verbs

·         Learn about Bastille Day

·         Learn how to substitute words to make texts your own

·         Assessment of this term’s work


Term 5 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: May 2026 - June 2026

What you will learn:

a)      Prepositions

b)      Talking about places in a town or village

·         Inviting someone out using the verb vouloir

·         Ordering drinks and snacks in a café using the tu and vous forms

·         Say what you are going to do using the near future tense

·         Talk about plans for a special weekend using two tenses together

·         Assessment of this term’s work


Fast Beginner: Level 3


This course takes the beginner level student on a deeper dive into the French language. In this course, you will learn to express yourself using past, present and future tenses and explore more complex reading and listening activities. This class takes place online during the school year.


Term 1 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: September 2025 - October 2025

What you will learn:

·       How to talk about school vacations.

·       The verbs avoir and être

·       How to say what you visited and what it was like

·       The Perfect Tense of the verb visiter

·       How to say what you did during the summer break

·       The Perfect Tense of regular -er verbs

·       The Perfect Tense of irregular verbs

·       How to identify negatives in the Perfect Tense in reading and listening

·       How to say where you went and how you went

·       The Perfect Tense of the verb aller


Term 2 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: November 2025 - December 2025

What you will learn:

·       How to understand and say the date

·       How to say which festivals you like and dislike

·       How to describe a festival

·       The Present Tense of regular -er verbs

·       How to identify the subject when listening

·       How to identify the subject when reading

·       How to buy food at a market

·       Speaking role-play task

·       Talk about what you are going to eat on a special day

·       The Partitive Article

·       How to talk about a future trip using the Near Future Tense


Term 3 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: January 2026 - February 2026

What you will learn:

·       How to talk about TV programmes, actors and actresses

·       Adjectival Agreement

·       How to talk about digital technology and what you do online

·       How to form and answer questions

·       How to arrange to go to the cinema

·       How to use the 24-hour clock

·       How to talk about leisure activities

·       How to use negatives

·       How to identify synonyms when listening and reading

·       How to identify verbs in the perfect tense

·       How to ask and answer questions in two tenses

·       Review of the term’s work + assessment


Term 4 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: February 2026 - April 2026

What you will learn:

·       How to talk about where you live

·       How to describe the weather

·       How to describe where you live

·      How to use pouvoir + infinitive

·       How to talk about how you must help at home

·      How to use devoir + infinitive

·       How to talk about your daily routine

·       Reflexive Verbs

·       How to ready texts for overall meaning

·       How to identify alternative ways of saying the same thing

·       How to use two tenses in writing


Term 5 - Duration: 6 Weeks - Dates: May 2026 - June 2026

What you will learn:

·       How to talk about sports using jouer à and faire de

·       How to give opinions about sports

·       How to use the comparative

·      Prepositions

·      How to ask the way and give directions

·       How to use the vous form of the imperative

·       How to listen for cognates

·       How to translate from French into English

·       How to talk about injuries and illness

·       How to take part in a conversation with a doctor

·       Use three tenses together in speaking

Adora Sas is a UK Trained teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, a bachelor's degree in French and a master's degree in Scientific, Technical and Medical translation. An experienced classroom practitioner and professional linguist, Adora brings several years of experience teaching at secondary schools in London to the role, as well as language experience gained as a freelance translator and précis-writer working for various agencies and international organizations, including the World Health Organization in Geneva.
